Intel CPUs and GPUs come with a free copy of Assassin's Creed: Mirage

PCWorld

Free game codes are a time-honored tradition when you're building or upgrading a gaming PC. Odds are pretty good that at any given time, a purchase of a new AMD or Nvidia graphics card will come with a free copy of whatever title is hot that quarter. Intel's latest selection of freebies includes the latest Assassin's Creed stab-em-up and an indie survival crafting game called Nightingale. The "Gamer Days" bundle runs from August 24th to September 4th in the United States. Assassin's Creed: Mirage takes the Ubisoft series back to its Middle Eastern story roots, following assassin Basim Ibn Ishaq as he creeps around Bagdad to uncover conspiracies and ancient relics.

This week in games: Free copies of Morrowind, Divinity: Original Sin 2 gets a tactics spinoff

PCWorld

Myst developer Cyan is running a Kickstarter campaign for a new game, Firmament, and Gearbox finally announced Borderlands 3. But that's just the start of this week's news, which also contained release date announcements for Heaven's Vault, Wolfenstein: Youngblood, and Observation, plus the announcement of a new Divinity: Original Sin spinoff tactics game, CD Projekt teasing not one but two games before 2021, and free copies of Morrowind to celebrate the Elder Scrolls anniversary. This is gaming news for March 25 to 29. This week's free game offer is near and dear to my heart. To celebrate the 25th anniversary of The Elder Scrolls, Bethesda is giving away free copies of The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, a.k.a.

GOG.com's winter sale kicks off with free copies of LucasArts classic Full Throttle

PCWorld

It's beginning to feel a lot like winter, which means it's time for all the various winter sales to start kicking off. GOG.com is first to usher in the holiday spirit, with "1900 deals up to 90% off." The story of a man, a motorcycle, and a whole lot of butt-kicking, Full Throttle was lauded in 1995 for its cinematic style and sharp writing. Double Fine remastered the game last year and you know what? The game part hasn't held up as well, though.

This week in games: Free copies of Crusader Kings II, Shadow of War removes loot boxes

PCWorld

Did you know in Crusader Kings II you can make a horse become ruler of the Roman Empire? And if that doesn't convince you to pick up a copy of the game for free this weekend, then I don't know anything that will. More details on that below, plus Assassin's Creed: Origins adds cheat codes, Shadow of War deep-sixes loot boxes, Path of Exile temporarily goes battle royale, Lawbreakers studio Boss Key starts work on a new project, and maybe some Shaquille O'Neal news too. This is gaming news for April 2 to 6. As I said up top, this week's freebie is a big one: Crusader Kings II, the massive and ever-popular grand strategy game from Paradox, is free (to own) on Steam until early Saturday, Pacific Time.

Artificial Intelligence Studies Abroad At Elite Law School

#artificialintelligence

Law students in the United States usually get a healthy dose of legal technology infused into their educations to prepare them for the future of law practice. Since most legal technology education, research, and innovation tends to happen here, students studying law in foreign countries may be at a disadvantage. One elite law school is trying to make sure its students don't get left behind. China's Peking University Law School has partnered with Gridsum, a cloud-based analytics platform, to create a research center that will focus on how artificial intelligence could be used in China's legal system. Gridsum will provide the technical and research backbone to the center as part of the partnership, drawing in part from AI technology developed for the company's "Faxin Wei Su" tool, a litigation service operating on Chinese communication platform WeChat's micro application platform.

Ubisoft's 30th anniversary putters across the finish line with free copies of Assassin's Creed III

PCWorld

Ubisoft has given away some truly excellent games in 2016 to celebrate its 30th anniversary. Since June, players have been able to scoop up free copies of Beyond Good & Evil, Rayman Legends, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, and more. So what classic gem did they choose to end on? Starring the bland and incredibly petulant Connor in his quest to sleep through all his lines, Assassin's Creed III takes you to all the best parts of the American Revolution and then steers you through the most generic missions it can think of. Oh, and if that's not enough, it also marks the end of the parallel Desmond storyline, which unspooled across the original game and the Ezio trilogy and told us how the gods were actually aliens or whatever.
